Caleb's 8th Birthday, Papa's 60th Surprise Party, Cousin Mary's Graduation, and plenty of Cousin FUN!

California Cousins -- Christmas 2011

We had the most wonderful Thanksgiving this year. Highlights were:

• fun time spent with our guests the Andersons
• turkey hunting with Dad and Mr. Jeff
• lazer tag with Dad and Mr. Jeff
• the boys thanksgiving day puppet show
• feasting, of course!
• baking and decorating turkey sugar cookies
• and fishing in the freezing cold
• and while the boys did all their manly boy stuff we moms had a wonderful time cooking, baking, talking, and drinking tea.

Brody's first field trip

I joined Brody for his very first field trip last week! It was a joyful trip to the local pumpkin patch on a big yellow school bus. We learned about pumpkins, went on a tractor ride and through a corn-maze, and then each chose a pumpkin to bring home.

I hope to find the time to take the whole family back before Halloween next week, and I was also hoping to visit an apple orchard this fall. If we're able to fit more Harvest fun into our lives I will let you know. But for now, here are a few fall pictures from Brody and my day together.

Yesterday we celebrated the boys' first day of school - huge milestone this year with Caleb entering 2nd grade, Brody heading into Kindergarten, and little Asher ready to rule the school from preschool.

Asher LOVES school, Caleb couldn't wait to get back to his friends and the playground, and Brody is not so sure of it all. He'd much rather be home with me.

It turns out that he'll be home on Tuesdays and Thursdays since our school offers a Monday, Wednesday, Friday option. Even as I type, my middle blonde is playing happily in his room with Legos. But, alas, it's time to go pick up the other two from school.

It's going to be a great yeaar!

the last golden days of Summer...

Summer is flying by with cartoons and sunshine, popsicles and snow cones, trips to the beach and trips to the park, getting sprayed with the hose, bike rides, coloring, and much imaginative play.
